A terminal is used to hold the end of a steel wire in place, so that the wire can only move in one direction. It can be used functionally, for example to secure a structure, or architecturally, for display purposes. In addition, it can be used to secure a mast in so-called stays, to stabilize the mast, and therefore the boat.

Terminals are swaged onto the steel wire, meaning that a tool is used to clamp the terminal around the steel wire to secure it to an anchor point.

Danish Blue Wave manufactures its products from a block of stainless steel, meaning there are no welds and their products can therefore withstand additional load.
